Meet Our Instructors
Our instructors are highly trained and experienced, ensuring that every dancer is learning in a safe, positive, and encouraging environment.
Lori McNabb
Lori McNabb, owner of Spotlight Dance, spent 16 years training under the direction of Ellie Grimmett at Ellie Grimmett's School of Creative Dance. During that time, she developed a strong foundation in dance and later spent three years as an instructor at the studio.
Lori went on to attend college, where she earned a Master's Degree in Counseling as well as a Master's Degree in Administration. While in college, she continued to stay involved in the performing arts by dancing in the musical Carnival and participating in volunteer outreach programs. Through these programs, she helped perform skits involving acting and dance for elementary school students to raise awareness about bullying and positive peer relationships.
After completing her degrees and starting a family, Lori became the dance coach at Hayes Middle School, where she coached and mentored students for 12 years. Prior to opening her studio, she also spent two years teaching hip-hop classes at a local community center.
In addition to studio teaching and coaching, Lori has been involved in local theater productions. In 2012, she choreographed dances for the Alban Theater's production of The Wizard of Oz. She returned to choreograph another musical production for the Alban Theater in 2018.
Today, Lori continues to serve as one of the directors for Spotlight, where she has created numerous award-winning routines, earning Choreography Awards and Entertainment Awards at regional competitions.
Morgan McNabb
Morgan McNabb began dancing at the age of three and trained at several studios before eventually finding her home when her mother opened In the Spotlight Creative Dance. Morgan spent nine years competing in dance and two years competing in acrobatics, building a strong foundation in both performance and technique.
During high school, Morgan was a member of the Capital High School Dance Company, where she served as President during her senior year. She continued her dance education at West Virginia University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Dance.
While at WVU, Morgan was also a member of the WVU Dance Team, performing at university football and basketball games and competing with the team at national competitions. During a College Dance Team Intensive in Boston, Morgan was selected and invited to become part of the National Dance Alliance (NDA) staff. She spent several summers traveling across the United States teaching at NDA dance camps and later spent a year judging for the organization.
Morgan also received an audition scholarship to attend summer dance classes in Chicago at the prestigious Gus Giordano Dance School.
Throughout her training, Morgan's choreography has received recognition and honors. In high school, her choreography was selected to perform in Arts Alive, and during college her work was chosen for Dance Now, as well as for performances in North Carolina and at the West Virginia Cultural Center as WVU's selected piece. Her choreography has also received Best Choreography awards at multiple dance competitions.
Morgan is certified in Acrobatics through the top tier Acrobatic Arts Foundation and continues to share her passion and creativity through choreography and instruction. Morgan has recently traveled to San Diego, CA in January of 2026 to learn from top Dance studio owners.
We are proud to have Morgan serving as Co-Owner, Artistic Director, and Instructor, where she helps lead and inspire the next generation of Spotlight dancers.
Mekenzi Brooks
Mekenzi Brooks began dancing at the age of two and quickly developed a passion for performing. She began competing at the age of five and continued as a Spotlight Competitive Dancer throughout her childhood until graduating from high school.
During her high school years, Mekenzi was a member of the Capital High School Dance Team, where she performed at school sporting events and served as Team Captain during both her junior and senior years. She was also a member of the Capital High School Dance Company for all four years, performing in multiple productions each year and serving as President of the Dance Company during her junior and senior years.
Mekenzi has always enjoyed performing both on stage and in theater productions. Throughout her childhood, she participated in numerous musicals and theatrical performances, which led to roles in her high school musicals as well as acting roles in Spotlight's Christmas productions, including characters such as Gingerbread, Barbie, and others.
She has trained with renowned choreographers, including instructors affiliated with Disney, Nouveaux, and West Virginia University, and has performed at venues such as Disney and Kings Island.
Mekenzi continued her dance education at West Virginia University, where she attended the WVU Dance Program on scholarship. During her four years at WVU, she trained in multiple dance styles, with a strong emphasis on ballet and advanced ballet training throughout all four years. She graduated from WVU with degrees in Dance and Finance.
We are proud to have Mekenzi back at Spotlight School of Dance as our Co-Owner, Ballet Director, and Instructor, where she shares her knowledge, technique, and love for dance with the next generation of Spotlight dancers.
Brooke Casdorph
Brooke Casdorph began dancing at the age of three and trained at several studios before finding her home at In the Spotlight. From the moment she joined the studio, Brooke stood out as a beautiful dancer and captivating performer, and we were thrilled to welcome her into the Spotlight family.
Brooke spent 11 years competing in dance, consistently placing 1st and 2nd overall with her solos and earning several dance scholarships along the way.
During her junior year of high school, Brooke began student teaching, where she quickly discovered her passion for teaching and mentoring younger dancers. She is now one of our Competition Company instructors, helping guide and develop the next generation of Spotlight dancers.
Brooke has always been recognized for her exceptional tap skills, which led to her becoming our Spotlight Tap Director. Her strong musicality, rhythm, and energetic performance style have made her a standout tap dancer throughout her training.
In addition to her studio training, Brooke was a member of her high school dance team, where her high-energy performances consistently captured the attention of audiences and received many compliments from viewers. She has also participated in acting roles in the Spotlight Christmas productions.
Brooke has trained with renowned choreographers through Disney and Nuvo, and has performed at venues such as Disney and Kings Island.
As a choreographer, Brooke is known for her flawless musicality and strong ear for music mixing, creating routines that are both entertaining and technically strong. Her choreography has received multiple Best Choreography and Entertainment Awards at competitions.
In addition to her dance career, Brooke is a graduate of Carver Cosmetology School and is incredibly talented at helping our dancers look stage-ready with hair and makeup styling for performances.
We are proud to have Brooke as our Tap Director and Instructor, where she continues to inspire our dancers with her talent, creativity, and passion for dance.
